Exclusive Preview: Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare
September 19, 2014

Soaring on the success from its inaugural year, Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare left its birthplace of California to scare lucky horror fans in Phoenix, AZ and Chicago, IL. In typical Rob Zombie style, the opening night of the Nightmare is far from modest. Rob Zombie himself will be kicking off 2 months of terror with a kickoff concert, featuring opening act Powerman 5000.
We joined haunted house producer Steve Kopelman at WestWorld of Scottsdale for a tour of the mazes, all based on Zombie's own films. Right from the start those
waiting in line are treated to a live rendition of the famous shootout scene from The Devil's Rejects before entering the first of the three houses, Lords Of Salem in blackout. After getting warmed up (or terrified, for those afraid of the dark), visitors move on to a house with a bit more colour. Captain Spaulding's Clown School in 3D is a surreal walk through that will make you feel disoriented from start to finish with its illusions and theatrics, backed by the maniacal cackling of the actors throughout the maze.
The Devil's Rejects maze left absolutely nothing to the imagination--from the house, to the shootout, to the Kahiki Palms hotel, and even the stench of chopped up bodies in the sewer, every precise detail matches the movie. For those that are still composed following the first 2 houses, this one is sure to shake you up a bit. With a mere fraction of the actors in for the preview, the house was already horrifically frightening, with Grandpa sure to let everyone know how much he loves
chopping up the bodies of nice young women, and 5 disturbing Kahiki Palms Hotel Rooms.
Love haunted houses? This is the place for you. The sick. brilliant minds of Rob Zombie and Steve Kopelman have pulled out all of the stops to make this a night you wont soon forget.
