Metalcore giants The Devil Wears Prada are currently on tour celebrating the 5 year anniversary of their wildly successful “Zombie” EP. Debuting at number 10 on the Billboard 200, “Zombie” is tied with their 2011 album “Dead Throne” for the bands highest charting release.
The Zombie 5 tour made it’s way to The Palladium in Worcester, MA on Friday night where The Devil Wears Prada turned it up to 11 for their fans. Prior to playing through the “Zombie” EP, the band ran through a few of their classics, including the ultra high octane “Assistant to the Regional Manager.”
The stage lighting changed drastically as the group launched into ‘Escape,’ the first track of the Zombie EP. Primarily red lighting with white light bulbs strategically placed around the stage gave the effect of candlelight. Vocalist Mike Hranica was a force onstage all night long, playing guitar, jumping, getting the crowd involved and more. Hranica’s stage presence is a big part of what has made the group so successful so far. Drummer Daniel Williams led the percussive attack with his quick and precise drumming. The fans in attendance fed off the stage energy, mixing it up in the several mosh pits going throughout the venue.
After playing through “Zombie” and acknowledging that important piece of the band’s history, they gave their fans a look into TDWP’s future by playing a new song, entitled “Supernova” which seemed to strike a chord with their fans who are undoubtedly excited to hear new music from the band. The group would continue on and close out the show with 3 more songs, followed by a two song encore, playing off several of the past albums in their catalog.
