Scottish alternative rock band Idlewild are back in the United States this week for their first US shows in 7 years. Lead by core members Roddy Woomble, Rod Jones, and Colin Newton, the band have added two new members to their lineup since their last stateside appearance. After splitting up in 2010 Woomble, Jones, and Newton decided to revive the group in 2013 and subsequently began working on a new album.
After nearly two years of hard work, the group released their comeback album, “Everything Ever Written.” The album would go on to be a success in the UK, drawing rave reviews and peaking at number 20 on the UK Albums Chart. Now the group are working on bringing that same success to the United States. Their US tour is a chance for stateside fans to see the band in intimate venues, Idlewild is coming off a recent performance at the famous Paisley Abbey, a centuries old church, in which they performed with the Royal National Scottish Orchestra.
The tour is sure to bring out loyal fans of the band who’ve been waiting for their return, as well as new fans who’ve yet to see them before live. Idlewild’s brand of alternative rock has a loose, bluesy feel to it and is sure to provide for a fun, entertaining night of rock music.
Idlewild plays The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA on Wednesday, October 21st at 8pm. Tickets are $15 and available via TicketMaster HERE
