Rock sensation Evanescence made their stop in Dallas at the Southside Ballroom Sunday night. The intimate three-date tour ranged across the U.S., previously in Nashville and on their way to Los Angeles. Little Rock natives announced friends and family were attending the show, giving fans insight of special significance of tonight's performance.
Up and coming band Veridia pumped up the crowd with their electro-alternative tracks, such as "At the End of the World", "Pretty Lies", and "Disconnected". The band had such an infectious, fierce stage presence; powerhouse vocalist Deena bounced around the stage as she made sure to make eye contact with every crowd member she could. The energy level rose as Veridia owned the stage.
Evanescence returned after a three-year hiatus, but you never would have guessed it attending this show. Die-hard fans had waited hours outside the venue for this moment; cheers emerged from the crowd the second the lights went down. Diving right into tracks from most recent album, such as "Never Go Back", "What You Want", and "The Other Side", the band's aura was refreshing. It was evident the band was happy to be back on stage.
A highlight of the night was an acoustic breakdown of Led Zeppelin's "Going to California". Fans immediately knew "My Immortal" was to follow when Lee said, "We're going to do something 'old' but in a new way." Lee's voice beautifully pierced the hearts of fans with the simple rendition. Bringing it back to older tracks, Evanescence tore up the stage with hits "Call Me When You're Sober" and "Bring Me To Life". The two-song encore of "All That I'm Living For" and "Erase This" followed after chanting and screams arose.
The vibe of the night was entirely positive. Fans were excited to be there, almost clinging onto every word sung and note played. Lyrics were nearly screamed back to the band. 12 years since the first album release and this night was proof that the band is still going strong. The night was one to never forget, and fans only hope that there are more to come.
