It almost seemed like a homecoming for Nothing More as they returned to NYC to play Irving Plaza Tuesday night, February 6th. The band, now a 3x-Grammy nominated band, played to a rowdy sold out crowd on this stop of their “The Stories We Tell Ourselves” tour. Openers included Kirra, Big Story, and The Contortionist.
Nothing More kicked off the set with the energy driven “Christ Copyright” and “Let ‘em Burn”. As per usual, frontman Jonny Hawkins was running all over the stage, engaging the crowd, and drumming alongside drummer Ben Anderson for a more powerful sound. It wouldn’t be a Nothing More show if bassist Daniel Oliver and guitarist Mark Vollelunga didn’t bring out and jam on the Bassinator. If you are unfamiliar, the Bassinator is when the Oliver’s base is set up on Hawkins’ drum set and Oliver, Vollelunga, and Hawkins play it all together. And that’s not the only unique instrument these guys bring to the table, but I won’t spoil it. All I’m going to say is that it is quite an impressive device and you need to make sure you see them on this tour, or on another, to see and experience it!
The band showed their energetic side as well as their more mellow and acoustic side with their catalog of songs from all 3 of their albums. Check out the song list and photos for the show below!
