Air Traffic Controller -
Air Traffic Controller have created a place all their own in the indie pop world. Serving in the US Navy as an air traffic controller, singer/songwriter Dave Munro sent home demos written during deployment to his friends, this was the inception of the band.
With an eclectic song catalog and category-defying organic/electronic sound, people are taking notice of ATC. They were 2015 Billboard Hot 100 Fest performers with The Weeknd and Justin Bieber, placed on the NPR Hot 100 List for SXSW, named Guardian UK Band of the Day, won Best Indie Alternative Song for "You Know Me" in the Independent Music Awards, and have over 20 million spins on Spotify. ATC's music has been licensed by Bose, MTV, NBC, ABC, Disney, Verizon, Toyota and more.
The latest project from young and prolific Icelandic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jófríður Ákadóttir - sees a blend of cyclical guitar parts, soft minimal soundscapes, and poetic wanderings of a journey that ends where it began. Drawing from classical, folk, and elect ronic backgrounds, JFDR amalgamates the sounds of changing seasons, her voice a current that moves through rough seas to smooth waters. Her recently released debut album 'Brazil' was recorded in New York in 2016 and co - produced by lege nd ry multi instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily (Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Yoko Ono, etc.) over the period of a year. It is the culmination of the experience of a musician who has released numerous albums in various groups over the years and toured the world many times over - an establishment of a high watermark for an artist slated as one of Iceland's fastest rising musical stars.
Sturla Atlas -
Releasing his first mixtape in the spring of 2015, hip hop/R&B artist Sturla Atlas quickly made a name for himself as one of Iceland's most exciting new acts. He became known for his energetic stage performance along with 101 Boys, kept releasing music and garnered support from the likes of i-D, Noisey and KEXP. Sturla Atlaswas named Newcomer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards and his latest mixtape 101 Nights, a cleverly produced electronic R&B fest, has been justifiably well received. The artist has performed at just about every big stage Iceland has to offer, including opening for two nights on Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour stop in the country. Having taken the Icelandic music scene by storm, Sturla Atlas now aims to grow his audience off the island. His resume already boasts performances at Sónar Barcelona, Eurosonic Noorderslag and The Great Escape and in March the singer brings his live music to the United States for the first time. Equipped with new music to preview and the same stage presence that has always been his forte, Sturla Atlas.
